Nicole Vaidisova out in 1st round

Nicole, who is just 19 years old, was the 7th seed in the tournament and played another 19 year-old, Olga Govortsova, from Minsk, Belarus. Nicole lost that 1st round match 2-6, 4-6.

Nicole was the 3rd seed. She won her first match against Nathalie Dechy 6-1, 6-3. Her second match was a close 3-setter which she won 6-7(5-7), 6-2, 6-4. She was then defeated in the quarterfinals by Bethanie Mattek from the USA 3-6, 0-6.
