She’s the Champion! Patty Schnyder, the tennis cutie pie from Switzerland, ranked 13th in the world and seeded 2nd in the tournament, proudly holds her trophy after winning the finals of the 2008 WTA Commonwealth Bank Tennis Classic in Bali, Indonesia. Schnyder easily defeated 85th ranked Austrian, Tamira Paszek, in straight sets, 6-3, 6-0. Great championship win, Patty!
This was Patty Schnyder’s first championship of the year. She reached one other final, in the Bangalore Open where she lost to Serena Williams 5-7, 3-6.
Good luck to Schnyder in the Tour Guangzhou International Women’s Open starting today in Guangzhou, China. Schnyder is the 2nd seed and will play 88th ranked Camille Pin, of France.
