Cutie pie Maria Sharapova is not playing in the Sony Ericsson Open in Miami this week. She is the only one of the top players not participating.
According to On the Baseline
“Maria Sharapova is in no rush to return to the tennis courts after re-injuring her shoulder at Indian Wells. The 2008 Australian Open champion learned her lesson last season and this time she is willing to take as long a break as necessary to recover. Sharapova tweaked her right shoulder last week at the Pacific Life Open, prompting her to withdraw from the mandatory Sony Ericsson Open. ”
We will miss her in this tournament. We hope she will be healed up and ready to make a strong showing in the next major, the French Open scheduled for May 26-Jun. 8.
